Read 6/2/21Genre: FictionGrade Level: 3rdI like this book a lot because I think you can use it to guide discussion on how being a friend to everyone in the class is so important。 Connecting your students to the book to have them think about why they think they need to be a good friend would create great discussion。

I think the dark colors didn't work very well for our kid。 Maybe in a year or so when she can concentrate more on the story。。。 I think the dark colors didn't work very well for our kid。 Maybe in a year or so when she can concentrate more on the story。。。 。。。more

The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark is a story of kindness, friendship, and facing your fears。 Mr。 Fish kindly tells Mrs。 Clam that he will retrieve her lost pearl。 However, to do so he must go into the dark。 He is AFRAID of the dark! A friend supports him and he recovers the pearl。 This is a cute story for kiddos who may be afraid or the dark or may have a friend who is。

Danielle

Has some rhyme not as well done as the first book。

Cute, but not as cute as the original。 Will keep in my child's library for the time being and will re-evaluate when he is old enough to tell me his opinion。 However, in my opinion, this story is very basic compared to the original; basically, a cash grab。 Cute, but not as cute as the original。 Will keep in my child's library for the time being and will re-evaluate when he is old enough to tell me his opinion。 However, in my opinion, this story is very basic compared to the original; basically, a cash grab。 。。。more

(5☆ Would recommend & would read again)My kids love the first book and this book did not disappoint。 The repetition gives something for the kids to look forward to。 My kids are still learning to talk, but the repetition helps them engage in this book, but they know certain parts from hearing it over and over again。

My kid said, "This book teaches us a lesson!" So I asked what it was and he said, "Things aren't as scary with a friend!" Sure? My kid said, "This book teaches us a lesson!" So I asked what it was and he said, "Things aren't as scary with a friend!" Sure? 。。。more

haha isn't it funny I read this at 12 years old and kinda liked it。just kidding。I read this a while ago (like 4 years ago) and I just remember making fun of this stupid but really cute book。 I'm not entertained by the book itself (for obvious reasons) but? yeah。 It's cute。 haha isn't it funny I read this at 12 years old and kinda liked it。just kidding。I read this a while ago (like 4 years ago) and I just remember making fun of this stupid but really cute book。 I'm not entertained by the book itself (for obvious reasons) but? yeah。 It's cute。 。。。more

Copyright: 2010Genre: Fiction Themes: Help, FriendshipMy favorite part of this book is when Mr。 Fish would say all these positive things things about himself but would admitted that he was afraid of the dark。 I would use this book as a read-aloud book, teach about helping others and recognizing your strengths and weakness。

The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark by Deborah Diesen, illustrated by Dan Hanna Farrar, Straus, and Girous, is one of thirty books in The Pout-Pout children’s book series。 The story begins with Ms。 Clam losing her pearl and Mr。 Fish heading out in search of it。 As he ventures off in search of it, he starts getting into deeper darker waters。 He repeatedly says, “I’m fast as a sail ship, I’m strong as a shark, I’m smart as a dolphin, but I’m scared of the dark。” With the help of his friends, he The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark by Deborah Diesen, illustrated by Dan Hanna Farrar, Straus, and Girous, is one of thirty books in The Pout-Pout children’s book series。 The story begins with Ms。 Clam losing her pearl and Mr。 Fish heading out in search of it。 As he ventures off in search of it, he starts getting into deeper darker waters。 He repeatedly says, “I’m fast as a sail ship, I’m strong as a shark, I’m smart as a dolphin, but I’m scared of the dark。” With the help of his friends, he can overcome his fear of the dark and return the lost pearl to Ms。 Clam。 The book is full of colorful illustrations of the sea。 Each page is covered from top to bottom with color。 The text is positioned perfectly on each page so that it has a solid background, making it easier to read。 The images are all relevant, showing what Mr。 Fish encounters on his journey。 They provide a nice visual representation of what is occurring in the text。 Overall, it is a cute rhyming story about friendship and overcoming the fear of the dark - in a very age-appropriate way that does not scare children。 I would recommend this book especially for parents who enjoy reading aloud to their children。 The rhyming component makes a great read-aloud book。 It would also be appropriate for beginning readers ages 5+。 。。。more
